Canada and the United States to Improve Weather Forecasts

OK - I'd like 22 Celsius (that's 74 Fahrenheit for all you old fashioned types south of the 49th) with a mild breeze and partially sunny until I die - thanks.

Oh, except for 24 December - 1 January when a blistering snowstorm would be nice.

Unprotected PCs can be hijacked in minutes

If your PC is not running hardware/software firewalls and/or Anti-Virus software you are headed for disaster.

Worse, your PC will be used by others to compromise other machines meaning that your foolishness will cause the mayhem to spread.

Skulls Trojan horse carries Cabir.B cellphone worm

Always a good idea to turn off the Bluetooth discovery function on your cell phone unless you are actively seeking a connection - If not, your next connection may be one of these bad guys.

Internet Explorer "Save Picture As" Image Download Spoofing

On your Windows Installation do you see the file extensions (ie: *.txt, *.mp3) or are they hidden?

By default, Windows hides these extensions from view when using Explorer to view files on your computer.

This allows malicious executable files to be hidden in the open as safe unexecutable files.

The solution is to disable the "Hide extension for known file types" within Explorer.

Open My Computer - Click Tools - Click Folder Options - Click the View Tab - uncheck the box for "Hide extension for known file types".

Further Info from The Man here:

"Right-Clicking, Selecting 'Save Picture As' Does Not Save Image with Correct Extension":

Eudora Combats Phishing With ScamWatch

Here is a good idea - trust Eudora to get a grip on those damn Phishing emails. Although anyone that accepts email in anything other than plain text is cruisin' for a bruisin' anyway - and good luck to all you folks, hehehe.
